At this week's meeting, Community Relations Sargent Carly Gaba of the Glenview Police Department spoke about the department's Blue Envelope Program. This program is designed to help individuals on the autism spectrum or with communication differences during traffic stops and public encounters. The envelope holds important documents and signals to officers that the driver may need clear instructions, patience, and a modified approach. The program provides clear, mutual benefits for drivers and law enforcement: What's inside: Space for your driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance card. It also features helpful guidance for drivers on what to expect during a traffic stop to help reduce anxiety. The envelopes are completely free of charge and require no proof of diagnosis or personal registration.
